What does the new Dogecoin software update bring?

New Dogecoin Software Update

Dogecoin developers have launched a new software update, focused on improving security and efficiency in the blockchain network.

The Dogecoin Core 1.14.6 update, which includes several important improvements to node security and blockchain network efficiency, has now been enabled, according to a post shared by its developers on Twitter.

The update was activated this week to fix several security-related issues, as well as to modify the pricing system, add new improvements and features to the user interface, and increase network efficiency, among other changes.

Dogecoin developers urge all Dogecoin Core users to implement the new version, to enjoy a more pleasant and secure experience within the network.

For his part, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and also co-founder of SpaceX and The Boring Company, the latter company having implemented DOGE payments earlier this month, tweeted about new updates available for the network.

Changes and improvements implemented in Dogecoin Core 1.14.6

As explained in GitHubThe Dogecoin Core 1.14.6 update includes important security updates and network efficiency changes, allowing Dogecoin to become more reliable and secure.

The document was published by one of the Dogecoin Core developers, Patrick Lodder, who recommended that miners, service developers, relay operators and Dogecoin wallet users upgrade to the latest available version.

Among the security recommendations included in the new Dogecoin software update is an improvement to the transaction offloading system, which allows this mechanism to be strengthened and made more reliable to improve the resilience and reliability of the entire network.

Changes related to Dogecoin commission fees have also been implemented. Specifically, the new Dogecoin Core version changes the recommended “dust” (too small amount of cryptocurrency) limit for all participants in the Dogecoin network from 1 DOGE to 0,01 DOGE – currently around $0,00069 USD.

The developers have also removed the P2P alert system and disabled the processing of alert messages over the network.

Initially, the alert system was scheduled to be disabled in the next Dogecoin software update. However, Lodder said that due to some bugs in its implementation and its disuse, the developers decided to remove this system earlier than planned.

Breaking changes in the new version of Dogecoin Core

In addition to the planned changes in Dogecoin Core 1.14.6, the update also saw some last-minute changes, which were implemented to ensure the security of the blockchain network.

These changes include the addition of a new parameter to the digital wallet backup directory and a new limit on the maximum number of “addnode” records, which has been set at a maximum of 800 as a measure to protect the network, Lodder said.

On the other hand, Dogecoin Core 1.14.6 lists a number of improvements, such as optimizing the stuck transaction detection system and modernizing the traffic graph in the user interface, to facilitate and stimulate the use of the network.

Another notable improvement in Dogecoin Core 1.14.6 is the translation update of the system into 8 languages, including Bulgarian, Italian, Korean, Persian, French, Portuguese, Dutch and Tamil, to allow non-English speaking users to access the network more easily and smoothly.
