Dell will run its own node on the Hedera Hashgraph DLT network.
US-based technology multinational Dell has become the newest member of the governing council of Hedera, the network that drives the construction of a decentralized economy using distributed ledger technology (DLT).
At present, Hedera's governing council is made up of 39 high-profile companies and businesses, including Google, Ubisoft, LG, IBM, among others.
Its new member, Dell Technologies Inc., will assist the DLT network in its governance, while taking advantage of the opportunities and possibilities it offers to drive the digital transformation of its customers through Web3.

In a Press releaseThe Hedera Hashgraph development team highlighted that as an active member of the network’s governing council, Dell will run its own Hereda node, allowing it to gain experience with the opportunities provided by DLT technology. Dell will also be able to “develop applications on the Hedera network for highly decentralized, mission-critical environments… and openly share its results for collective industry learning,” the team said.
For his part, John Roese, Dell’s global chief technology officer, said that the experience the company will be able to acquire through Hedera will help it in its goal of serving as “a rational and holistic voice for customers considering incorporating DLT into their digital transformation.”
Objectives of the merger between Dell and Hedera
Hedera Hashgraph's commitment has been linked to innovation, stability and continued decentralization of the network, while Dell has been conducting studies related to new technologies to analyze their applicability for the development of solutions that contribute to solving problems related to data trust, optimization of data exchange through the network, contract automation, among others.
The merger between Dell and Hedera therefore offers many advantages, including the exchange of experiences in the field of DLT technology.
Roese said Dell plans to use this innovative technology to Conduct studies on the optimization of edge computing, with the aim of minimizing latency and cost in data exchange in current network systems.
In addition, Dell is also looking to discover new capabilities of distributed ledger technology to implement solutions built on it that aim towards data trust, contract automation, IT environment optimization, among other objectives. Roese also highlighted that his integration into Hereda's governing council aligns with its goals focused on data decentralization, such as its Project Alvarium initiative.
Dell to help companies meet ESG standards through DLT
In a society where technological development has pushed companies to implement mechanisms that jeopardize environmental stability, it is reasonable that there is an increase in the demand for transparency in sustainable and socially responsible practices.
Companies must be accountable to different stakeholders who want to evaluate the impact they generate in the world.
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) analysis and reporting can help create long-term value for stakeholders and significantly impact a company's metrics. Roese said: One of Dell's interests with DLT technology is automation in ESG reporting, allowing companies that need to issue this type of document to do so in an efficient and verifiable manner.
