Casual footwear brand Crocs has teamed up with NFT and Web3 brand Doodles to revolutionize the world of traditional fashion.
Collaborations between the fashion world and Web3 continue despite the slowdown that crypto markets are currently experiencing.
NFT trading volume has dropped significantly from last year. Figures released by CoinGecko earlier this month indicate that NFT trading volume on Ethereum has dropped by 39,6% this 2023.
However, despite the bear market, Crocs has decided to move forward into the imposing digital world.
The Colorado-based casual footwear company announced a collaboration with Doodles to launch a limited edition of its iconic Crocs Classic Clog beach slippers, which revolutionized the concept of comfort and convenience around the world in the early 2000s.
The exclusive Doodles x Crocs sneakers are designed by Doodles co-creator and world-renowned artist Burn Toast and come with Jibbitz charms, which allow for shoe customization, NFT digital collectibles and other exclusive benefits.
At X, Doodles announced that public sales of the new sneakers would begin this Tuesday, August 29.

The Doodles x Crocs sneakers are accompanied by an NFT collectible redeemable for a Crocs Box, which includes access to two Doodles Wearables and a Beta Pass. The latter offers early access to the immersive Doodles creation platform Stoodio, according to the Doodles developers.
Web3 hits the mainstream
Doodles' partnership with traditional brands is evidence of the brand's efforts to bring Web3 into the mainstream.
Web3 brand founder and CEO Julian Holguin highlighted the collaboration with Crocs as an important step in bringing new products and fun experiences to users and consumers. He highlighted that Doodles' unique style and character lend themselves very well to Crocs footwear.
The casual footwear brand had also announced its interest in the world of blockchain and Web3 earlier last year, when it submitted a trademark application to the USPTO to create blockchain-based downloadable virtual goods.
In addition to Crocs, other prominent brands in the traditional world also made major announcements related to NFTs and Web3. One of the most recent was Gucci, which introduced two exclusive physical items earlier this month to reward the loyalty of its users. The Italian fashion brand offered Gucci Vault Material NFT holders the chance to exchange their NFTs for a wallet and a canvas travel bag.
Coca-Cola also ventured into a new collection of non-fungible tokens titled Masterpiece, which it announced in mid-August, to showcase classic masterpieces through its iconic bottle.
According to the food and beverage company, its foray into Web3 is also intended to pave the way for other brands and companies in traditional industries to explore the next generation of the Internet.
