Andreessen Horowitz, one of the world’s leading venture capitalists, has participated in the $80 million Series B funding round of PIP Labs, the software development company behind Story Protocol, a blockchain focused on intellectual property. According to experts, this significant investment underlines the growing relevance of digital asset protection in the crypto world.
Another project that managed to attract VC investors was Bridge, a platform dedicated to the issuance and transactions of stablecoins, which raised approximately $58 million in a private round. This round of capital was participated in by renowned venture capital firms such as Sequoia Capital, Ribbit Capital, Index Ventures and Haun Ventures, highlighting the need for digital solutions that facilitate secure and efficient transactions.
Growth in the DeFi sector and Web3 games
The decentralized finance (DeFi) sector also saw a notable surge in funding, with projects attracting close to $129 million. Projects such as Odos Protocol, Adot, Edge Matrix Chain, and Echelon Market are among the biggest beneficiaries of VC investment in August, standing out as key players in the decentralized finance sector.
On the other hand, the Web3 gaming ecosystem also saw a significant increase in investment over the past month, raising over $43 million in venture capital. In both cases, both the DeFi and Web3 gaming sectors raised more than double what was raised in the month of July.
This surge in venture capital funding for cryptocurrency startups focused on DeFi and blockchain gaming reflects a positive trend in the ecosystem. With a predominant focus on these sectors, along with blockchain infrastructure, investors are recognizing the transformative potential of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
According to experts, this trend could continue to grow as innovative developments occur in the crypto industry and companies encourage the expansion of blockchain technology applications in various industries. On the other hand, some consider that the ability of cryptocurrency startups to attract financing in a competitive environment can be considered as an indication of the maturity that this market is gaining and its growing legitimacy in the global financial landscape.
In the last three months, venture capital investment in startups and cryptocurrency projects has been increasing, going from about $480 million in April to $634 million raised last month.
