The Spanish government, through the CNMV, warns that the Snorter token (SNORT) is not regulated in the country under the MiCA Regulation.
La National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) of Spain has issued a formal alert against Snort and its native token, SNORTThe regulatory body indicated that the project does not possess the necessary credentials to operate as a cryptocurrency service provider in the national territory.
According to official records, the platform uses a Spanish version of its website to attract and operate with local users. However, it does so without having completed the mandatory registration process required by current European Union regulations.
The CNMV's institutional notice aims to guarantee transparency and protect investors. Lacking a validated license, the project is operating in an irregular administrative situation with respect to the authorities that oversee market integrity.

Through the technical report Published on April 20 of this year, the CNMV confirms that Snorter lacks the required authorization to operate under the MiCA Regulation frameworkAccording to the agency, the project violates Articles 3 and 59 of the European regulation, which require a prior license for any platform that executes orders or manages tools with access to third-party funds.
Currently, Snorter channels its operations through an automation tool integrated into Telegram, designed to facilitate the purchase of digital assets on the Solana and Ethereum networks. By executing transactions on behalf of users, this technical solution falls directly into the category of a financial service subject to supervision, according to current regulatory criteria.
Although this notification does not constitute a formal accusation of fraud, the agency issues this warning in order to inform users that Snorter's technology operates outside the regulated legal framework, a situation that generates direct risks for participants as it does not have the investor protection guarantees provided for in Law 6/2023 on Securities Markets.

SNORT's price retreats as uncertainty grows
Snorter's financial trajectory shows that the project managed to raise more than $5,7 million during a pre-sale phase which lasted for 5 months and ended in October of last year. During that period, the protocol's token, SNORT, was distributed under a progressive pricing system, organized into different investment stages that incentivized early participation.
Despite the amount raised, the team behind the project has maintained the absolute anonymityThey offer no information about who is responsible for the company or their experience in the sector, citing the need to maintain a low profile to focus strictly on code development and avoid regulatory friction. However, this lack of verifiable data is what raises doubts among users and market observers.
Meanwhile, the token's performance in the secondary market has been volatile. Currently, its price hovers around $0,0069, representing a 93% drop from its initial value of $0,1, reflecting a sharp decline in value in a short period.
This scenario unfolds at a time when the cryptocurrency industry is moving towards greater transparency standards. The new requirements aim to ensure that platforms and projects operate with more robust structures and have effective mechanisms in place to respond to any incidents.
Towards stronger oversight in the digital ecosystem
The Spanish financial authority has intensified its oversight of new digital asset launches, in line with the regulatory evolution taking place in Europe following the phased implementation of the MiCA framework. In this context, the recent notification related to the Snorter project joins other communications issued during 2026, reflecting more active monitoring of initiatives seeking to raise capital through pre-sales.
This type of action highlights a more structured approach by regulators, aimed at strengthening transparency in the cryptocurrency sector. The goal is for users to be able to more easily distinguish which platforms operate with authorization and which lack legal backing to manage or hold funds.
As the year progresses, a movement toward building a more orderly environment for digital finance in the country is gaining momentum. Regulatory clarity not only facilitates informed decision-making by users but also fosters the development of projects that integrate technological innovation with robust compliance standards.
