China's National Blockchain Technology Innovation Center was approved in February with the aim of accelerating the country's economic, industrial and technological development.
Blockchain technology has emerged as one of the top innovations of interest in China, despite the country's strong rejection of cryptocurrencies. By using this technology, China is seeking to create key solutions and applications that will foster its growth and improve its global competitiveness.
To this end, China has launched its new technological innovation centre focused on blockchain, from which it will explore the various use cases of this technology.
China's Ministry of Science and Technology recently reported that from this new innovation center the country will develop software, hardware, solutions and tools using blockchain as a key technology to foster innovation and encourage cooperation in different areas, including the industrial, economic and governmental sectors.
The Beijing Academy of Blockchain and Edge Computing, known for developing the ChainMaker network, will be the organization leading the new blockchain innovation center.
China to build cohesive blockchain network
From its new technological innovation centre, China wants to create a network, together with universities, blockchain companies, academics and experts, that will facilitate the connection of existing blockchains.
According to Zheng Zhiming, a professor at the School of Mathematics and Systems Sciences at Beihang University, blockchain networks and platforms are currently isolated from each other. However, connecting each of them into a cohesive network “will significantly improve blockchain innovation capabilities and core competitiveness.”
500.000 professionals to be trained in blockchain in China
According to a report from Beijing Daily, China's National Blockchain Technology Innovation Center has begun training new blockchain professionals and experts since last week. The report notes that the country will train 500.000 new blockchain professionals to make China the leader in the development and adoption of this innovation.
China has been one of the countries that has most strongly invested in the development of blockchain technology, devoting great efforts and resources to its adoption and implementation. The country's president, Xi Jinping, has shared his enthusiasm for this technology on several occasions.
Jinping has a vision of making China the global heart of this technological innovation. To achieve this goal, in addition to creating a blockchain-powered technological innovation hub, China has also developed its own blockchain for service delivery, called the Blockchain Services Network (BSN). This blockchain will also serve as a foundation for building future applications, allowing developers to build different solutions on top of it.
The Asian giant has also given the green light to a master plan in Hunan, the main objective of which is to encourage the development of the province through this technology. The nation is one of the most advanced in the development of a CBDC, a digitalized version of its national currency, the yuan. In addition, China has created a cluster to promote innovation through blockchain.
All these advances in the field of blockchain technology will be driven by the new technological innovation center, to continue promoting the undisputed leadership that China has gained in the use and implementation of the blockchain.
