Blockchain forensics firm Elliptic reported that phishing attacks related to the launch of ApeCoin (APE) this week, from verified accounts on social media network Twitter, resulted in the theft of at least 35 NFTs, from valuable collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Bored Ape Kennel Club.
According to The Block, several verified Twitter accounts were hacked to post links about the launch of ApeCoin, which led to malicious websites, from where hackers could trick users into accessing their NFTs. Unsuspecting users who clicked on such links lost their assets. In total, the 35 NFTs stolen this week amount to nearly $900.000, the company said.
Elliptic also reported that, regarding the multi-million dollar hack of the Ronin Network, the attacker has begun laundering the stolen ETH through major cryptocurrency platforms.
