Chainlink will use data from the Associated Press news agency in its blockchain oracles to provide reliable data in the crypto industry.

The decentralized oracle network of blockchainChainlink will use data from economic, commercial, sports and electoral race calls from the American news agency Associated Press, to ensure greater transparency and trust in the blockchain.

In the post, Chainlink highlighted that Associated Press is one of the oldest and most prestigious news agencies in the world, offering reliable and timely information. The data and information handled by the agency will be integrated into Chainlink's blockchain oracles, which are used to interconnect the real world with the blockchain. Decentralized applications (DApps) and decentralized finance protocols (DeFi) make use of blockchain oracles, such as those provided by this network, to feed on real data that the chains and smart contracts cannot obtain on their own.

Chainlink, which is developed on the network Ethereum, is one of the most relevant and important decentralized oracle projects in the crypto industry, dedicated to providing reliable data sources on the main blockchain networks in the industry.

Chainlink and Associated Press

With this new partnership, the Associated Press is putting its journalism on the blockchain. The agency reported that it will deepen its involvement in the blockchain industry to make reliable economic, sports, and election race calling data more accessible to developers and, therefore, facilitate the creation and development of new and better protocols, especially in the DeFi ecosystem. This data set will be accessible through an Associated Press node on the Chainlink network.

Dwayne Desaulniers, Associated Press' director of blockchain and data licensing, said that working with Chainlink will help make the agency's information compatible and accessible to any blockchain in the world. Meanwhile, William Herkelrath, managing director of Chainlink Labs, said that the collaboration with Associated Press will strengthen Chainlink's Oracle infrastructure. Herkelrath also highlighted that with this step, the news agency demonstrates its support and confidence in innovation in the digital industry.

“Chainlink technology is the ideal way to provide smart contract developers anywhere in the world with direct, on-demand access to data.”

The Associated Press noted that we are in a new era, where emerging smart contract industries are gaining greater demand and popularity, hence the need and importance of ensuring reliable data. The news agency previously collaborated with Chainlink and Everipedia to publish the results of the past US presidential elections on the Ethereum blockchain and EOS

This year, Chainlink has been working on several technical improvements, such as a version 2.0 of its protocol, to ensure a high level of reliability, decentralization and interoperability in its network of oracles. In addition to the Associated Press, other news and information agencies, such as The New Times, Reuters, Fortune and TIME are also entering the blockchain industry, including the non-fungible token sector or NFT
