Chaincode launches BOSS, a program for Bitcoin developers in Latin America

Chaincode and Satoshi's Library have joined forces to launch an initiative that promises to transform the Bitcoin development landscape in Latin America, the BOSS (Bitcoin Open Source Software) program.

Chaincode, a New York-based research and development organization focused on promoting the Bitcoin open source ecosystem, and Libreria Satoshi, a Spanish-language Bitcoin and Lightning Network learning community, have taken the initiative to launch this program, designed primarily for developers looking to deepen their skills and contribute significantly to open source projects in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

As blockchain technology continues to evolve, the need for skilled and committed developers becomes increasingly critical, and BOSS is presented as an answer to this demand.

The Bitcoin Open Source Software (BOSS) 2025 program, an initiative of Chaincode and Satoshi’s Library, offers a unique opportunity for developers interested in deepening their skills in Bitcoin open source. Applications close on December 31, and the program begins on January 13, 2025. This collaboration seeks to empower local developers and create a lasting impact on the global Bitcoin ecosystem.

BOSS: An unconventional course for advanced developers

According to the organization, BOSS is a program specifically designed for those Bitcoin developers who already have programming knowledge and want to take their skills to the next level, so it is not an introductory course, but rather a practical, self-learning experience. However, Chaincode Labs stressed that those who are eager to learn and who do not have any previous experience in Bitcoin or Lightning Network code development could also apply.

“If you are serious about a career in Bitcoin and Lightning OSS, we highly encourage you to apply. While a basic level of programming proficiency is required, we welcome all technical backgrounds and experiences.”, pointed out the organization.

Through a hands-on, self-paced experience, BOSS program participants will be faced with structured programming challenges that will allow them to apply their knowledge in real-world, challenging situations. They are expected to spend at least twelve hours per week on activities such as coding and problem-solving exercises, benefiting from the support and mentorship of Satoshi Library alumni. These mentors, with experience in previous programs such as Bitcoin 4 Open Source, will share their knowledge and experiences to guide participants on their learning path.

On the other hand, the program structure is flexible and non-simultaneous, allowing developers to collaborate and learn at their own pace, without the constraints of rigid schedules. This flexibility is crucial to adapt to the diverse work and personal realities of participants, facilitating a more effective integration of learning into their daily lives. In this way, the BOSS program adjusts to the individual needs of each developer, ensuring a personalized and effective learning process.

The objectives of the BOSS program

The main goal of the BOSS program is to cultivate an active and supportive community of Bitcoin developers in Latin America. Chaincode seeks to teach technical skills and foster trust and collaboration among participants.

The program also aims to facilitate access to educational resources and mentoring. The participation of Satoshi’s Library is fundamental in this regard, as this organization has proven to be a pillar in Bitcoin education in Latin America. Alumni of the previous program, Bitcoin 4 Open Source (B4OS), will play a crucial role in offering practical guidance and sharing their experiences with new participants.
