Bored Ape Yacht Club has become a top-tier NFT collection that has been at the top for quite some time now. Thus, this project operated by Yuga Labs has recently announced its latest community-level initiative: its “community council.” This board will be made up of seven hand-picked BAYC members, which has resulted in some mixed reviews in the first few days since its formation.
Yuga Labs has selected these seven holders of this NFT collection and has established that this number “will grow over time.” This news was first published on the Yuga Labs blog, where the profiles of each of the members of this new council have also been shared. This list includes a wide variety of Bored Ape holders, who will be involved in diverse factors such as marketing, community building or other aspects in Web3.

In this blog post, Yuga Labs also explains that the responsibilities of this council include being a focal point for feedback, driving community initiatives, and building autonomy. In addition, other aspects are also included, such as establishing a formalized method for offering feedback as a voice of the community.
The newly created council will also participate in the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) and we will have to wait some time to see how it will impact and evolve. There have been both positive and negative comments about the way Yuga Labs is building the “voice” for the Bored Ape community. Additionally, Yuga has referenced similar activities for other collections such as the popular CryptoPunks and Meebits.
No doubt the overall reaction of the community over time and the integration of the council and its implications in Bored Ape will have a lot to do with whether the decision to create councils for other collections is pushed or delayed.
Overall, BAYC continues to be a top-tier project in the current NFT landscape.
