The developers of Bluesky, the decentralized version of Twitter that was born in 2019, have released ADX, the first experimental version of their open-source protocol for building decentralized social networks.
ADX, Authenticated Data eXperiment, as Bluesky developers have called it, is now available on GitHub.
On Twitter, Bluesky developers announced the release of ADX, licensed under MIT, as the first version of their open source code, with which they have begun the public development of their protocol for decentralized social networks.
Bluesky clarified that this is not the official launch of a network or an application, so he encourages creators to experiment with the code without developing any large social application on it, since it is only a first version of what will be its future protocol.
Instead, the social network has announced ADX to work openly and collaboratively with the community, noting that this will ensure greater transparency and allow Bluesky developers to share their progress on the project.

Bluesky, towards the decentralization of Twitter and social networks
The idea behind Bluesky, developed by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in 2019, is to decentralize social media. Bluesky wants to create a standard that allows developers to build their own decentralized social networks, where users can live experiences under their own control.
Dorsey, who is also known in the crypto industry as one of the biggest proponents of Bitcoin, announced in August 2021 the incorporation of Jay Graber as project leaderSince then, Bluesky has made significant progress.
Bluesky is not Twitter
The decentralized social network protocol has seen the need to clarify its relationship with the social network Twitter, given the interest that has arisen in the latter on a global scale, since the billionaire Elon Musk began negotiations to buy the company's shares and make Twitter a privately owned company.
Graber, the current leader of Bluesky, said on Twitter that the decentralized social network became independent of the Twitter company earlier this year, establishing an independent company called Bluesky PBLLC to ensure the success of the project.
Bluesky PBLLC is focused on the research and development (R&D) of decentralized social networks.
As an independent, “public benefit” company, Bluesky has a structure that grants it the freedom to devote its resources to the mission of building a decentralized social media standard, without the obligation to return money to shareholders, the network said. “The company is owned by the team itself, with no controlling stake held by Twitter.".
Bluesky aims towards Web3, supporting the construction of decentralized social networks and an open Internet accessible to all.
