The fifth edition of the European Blockchain Convention, European Blockchain Convention (EBC), begins this Monday, April 12, from 1:00 pm CET. This convention, which is being held virtually for the second consecutive year, brings together more than 2000 virtual participants who want to promote the use of blockchain technology, as a technology developed to design and create valuable applications that are highly efficient and transparent.

The virtual event will last 1 week, until next April 16, where its more than 120 speakers, among technology leaders, regulators, investors, corporations, developers and entrepreneurs from the Blockchain industry, will be able to express their inspiring ideas in 30 conferences, panel discussions, workshops, individual meetings and high-level networking.

Throughout this week, EBCvirtual will present a wide variety of topics related to the blockchain industry, which began to gain greater momentum and popularity in 2020.

As cited in a recent report by Realsec, the increase in the adoption levels of this technology leads 1 in 4 companies with more than 50 employees to implement and use blockchain in some of their processes. The innovation and development of the blockchain allows companies and corporations to improve and optimize their processes and functions, so they are taking note and incorporating the potential of blockchain into their improvement, development and growth strategies.

From Tokenization to Governance

Several of the presenters at EBCvirtual are focusing their presentations on topics such as asset tokenization, one of the processes in the crypto industry that has had the most implementations today. Also, topics such as digital governance, blockchain architecture, sovereign identity, investment for startups, supply chains, asset custody, and more, will be the focus of EBCvirtual. Of course, the construction of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) will also be among the speakers' discussions.

The European Central Bank, ECB, is considering the issuance of a digital euro, although its creation and launch is something that will be defined in the middle of this year, according to a report Cristine Lagarde, President of the ECB.

Likewise, the development of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) This is another of the major topics that will take place during the virtual convention. This digital platform is managed by the European Commission (EC) and several countries on the continent that are participating in the development of the infrastructure that will allow nations to be interconnected to provide public services across the continent in an easy, accessible and secure manner.

Crypto regulation is another of the most interesting topics today. As the number of investors participating in digital financial ecosystems grows, driven by the cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technology, the greater the interest of regulators around the world in establishing clear regulations that protect investors and their funds, and also minimize potential financial crimes that can be committed with this new class of assets.

DeFi and NFTs: Building for the future

Decentralized finance (DeFi) and the NFTs are currently the largest sectors developing within the digital industry. In less than a year, these innovations based on blockchain technology have captured the interest of a large part of the investors and users who participate in these ecosystems.

At the time of this writing, DeFi protocols gather more liquidity than 101.600 million, while NFTs celebrate sales for more than 375 million in the last 30 days. These figures show the degree of interest that DeFi and NFTs enjoy in society.

EBCvirtual brings together the brightest minds in blockchain to drive innovation and development around the crypto industry, while fostering integration and the development of business relationships between the different creators, programmers, developers and companies.
