Bardados will be the first country in the world to build digital embassies within Metaverses such as Decentraland and Somnium Space.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados is integrating with leading Metaverses to build new digital embassies and offer services to citizens within these new nations. According to Gabriel Abed, Barbados’ ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, the Caribbean island nation will be the first country in the world to move its sovereignty into the digital world.
Bardados signed an agreement last weekend with Decentraland, a technology-based metaverse blockchain, to develop the world's first digital embassy. In addition, the island country is partnering with other Augmented Reality-based metaverses, such as Somnium Space and SuperWorld, to purchase digital land and build new sovereign government headquarters and infrastructure, from which to offer services and attention to its citizens. Abed mentioned that within the virtual embassies, Barbadian citizens will be able to carry out different procedures and request documents such as electronic visas, among others.
With this initiative, Bardados is taking an important step towards development and innovation and is recognizing the legitimacy of the digital land.
The rapid and widespread adoption that the cryptocurrencies, And blockchain is motivating governments around the world to adapt to these developments in order to take advantage of the potential offered by new technologies. Barbados, Metaverses and Digital Nations
The Barbados ambassador said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has been looking into the creation of digital embassies within the main metaverses that exist in the industry for several months. And it was last August when the Barbados Cabinet approved the creation of its first virtual headquarters in Decentraland. Abed reported that the country's Ministry of Science and Technology has also joined the initiative to expand into the Metaverse, to open up new opportunities and capabilities for its government and citizens.
According to Abed, Barbados' first virtual government headquarters will be launched early next year.
Digital land
Barbados is recognizing the digital land as a space where new infrastructures can be built that serve as a meeting point for thousands of people, regardless of where they are physically located. Through metaverses, users can interact and relate to others through their avatars.
For Barbados, it is a milestone to become the first country in the world to use digital land to build new government headquarters that will offer real services and care to its citizens. The extension of its sovereignty to the virtual world also highlights the historic moment we are currently experiencing, where technology and cryptocurrencies are fundamental to building the new future.
Development of «Metamundos»
Abed said the Barbados Ministry of Foreign Affairs intends to aggressively expand into the digital universe and plans to build a “teleporter,” which would allow citizens to easily interconnect with any of the available metaverses.
“The idea is not to pick a winner: the metaverse is still very young and new, and we want to make sure that what we build is transferable across metaworlds”He said.
Virtual property in the hands of the community
Through metaverses, citizens can connect and interact across space. No matter where they are in the world, metaverses allow millions of people to easily connect, connect and interact.
While Barbados will be developing new digital headquarters in various metaverses, including those centralized by a single company, its commitment to Decentraland opens the doors to its citizens to the growing and buoyant world of decentralization. In Decentraland, one of the most complete and fully decentralized open source metaverses built on Ethereum, it is the users themselves who maintain ownership of their creations and who can vote on future decisions related to the growth and development of the Metaverse itself.
Metaverses and Crypto Adoption
Since the Facebook corporation announced its plans to conquer the Metaverse under its new name Meta, virtual worlds and everything related to them has gained great importance. MANA, the native token of Decentraland, has grown by 300% in the last month, trading above XNUMX ... $3,30 at press time. Other metaverse tokens such as The Sandbox (SAND), Enjin Coin (ENJ), and Axie Infinity (AXS) have also grown exponentially, showing increases of 270%, 75%, and 14% over the past 30 days.
In addition to the growing interest in the Metaverse, more and more governments around the world are signing up to the adoption of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. In Panama, the Legislative Assembly is discussing two bills to legalize the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment and boost the development of a new digital economy in the country. In Zanzibar (Africa), the government is also analyzing the possibility of adopting Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to enrich its current financial system and boost its growth and technological development.
