The American video platform YouTube recently canceled the official Bitcoin.com channel. It seems that the decision was made due to an alleged violation of the platform's terms.

Although the official Bitcoin.com channel was already re-established again on the YouTube platform, the streaming company had already canceled the channel's broadcast due to an alleged violation of terms. So it reported Roger Ver, Director and Executive President of the Bitcoin.com channel through Reddit, alleging that the cancellation was carried out arbitrarily and without apparent reasons.

The video platform had canceled the Bitcoin.com channel for a violation of terms, which at no time happened, alleges Ver. Given the situation, they decided to send a letter of appeal to the measures taken by the platform to reestablish the channel. .

The momentary cancellation of this channel may not be such a relevant fact, but YouTube's prohibitive and repetitive actions against cryptocurrency channels do cause a feeling of discomfort in the community. On many previous occasions, Google managers, who manage the YouTube platform, have attacked cryptocurrencies. And most of the time, YouTube has canceled and deleted a large number of videos where these topics are discussed. A fact that shows us the power that centralized digital media have to control the information that is transmitted. These media want to tell us what can be seen and what cannot, even violating the interests of ordinary people.

It is not the first case of YouTube against cryptocurrencies

The abuse of power by centralized media has been evident for quite some time, and events of this type have been occurring on YouTube since last year. In this sense, since December 2019, YouTube began to remove several videos that discussed topics related to cryptocurrencies on channels of well-known people in the crypto world.

For instance, Chris Dunn He reported via Twitter that YouTube had canceled and removed the transmission of all his videos where he talked about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Pointing out that she had been making videos on this platform for more than 10 years and that his channel had more than 210 thousand subscribers at the time of these cancellations.

Likewise, the programmer Ivan Liljeqvist announced through Twitter the abusive measures that YouTube had taken regarding the content on its @IvanonTech channel. On this occasion, YouTube had deleted one of his videos where he explained the use of cryptocurrencies. Liljeqvist explains that his video did not contain anything harmful or harmful to anyone. Even so, the platform deleted it just a few hours after its publication, and marked it as “harmful or dangerous content.”

After Liljeqvist reported this fact, YouTube reported that what had happened had been a mistake and that it would restore the content. However, to date the video is still unavailable.

Likewise, several cryptocurrency YouTubers have been affected by the sudden and arbitrary measures that the platform has been imposing against channels that talk about cryptocurrencies. Many may think that this measure is correct because cryptocurrencies lend themselves to scams and other things, but isn't there a large amount of content on YouTube that threatens not only people's economies, but also their ethics and morals? ? This is the case of the Logan brothers, Americans who own a YouTube channel where they have (always) published deplorable and insensitive content. And the worst thing is that it is visible to the public.

Decentralized platforms are the best option

The prohibitive actions of Google and its YouTube platform on blocking certain content that is published through this medium has led many to create and explore alternative platforms; ones where no one has the authority to make these types of decisions. Yes, we are talking about decentralized platforms. A place where any member of society can express themselves without fear of sanctions.

While it is true that we must take care of the type of content that is published, or the message that is sought to be transmitted through that content, it is also true that cryptocurrencies have awakened a dormant interest in society. An interest that does not suit the large corporations that wield power, an interest that is dedicated to discovering what money is? How does the financial system work? These topics, a bit complex for many, did not have the importance and depth that they have today.

Before, people were content just to listen to what the media or governments had to tell them. Now, thanks to the feeling of freedom that Bitcoin awakened with its birth, many are delving into these topics in search of the truth; that truth that is not disguised with the superficial words that the powerful media wants us to believe.

For this reason, today there are several video and content platforms similar to YouTube and social networks where users of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies can share their content with the community in a secure and decentralized way. Furthermore, this is a consideration that Roger Ver is also taking into account; Noting that although his Bitcoin.com account on YouTube has been restored, he is considering exploring other options.

Likewise, Ver put out a call to the audience for viable suggestions of decentralized platforms it can use to stream its videos.

DTube, a decentralized platform equivalent to YouTube

The fear of many YouTubers about stopping using YouTube is that they think they cannot monetize their videos based on the likes and views they have. But this is not true. The decentralized platform DTube provides cryptocurrency monetization for its users. And like this platform, there are many others like BitTube o BitChute.

For example, DTube is a decentralized platform based on blockchain that works through a network peer to peer (p2p). That is, it is the users themselves who are in charge of creating, uploading, verifying and controlling the content that is shared through this platform. Therefore, no user, company or company has the power to block, censor or eliminate the content. And the best thing is that all the content can be viewed without ads, and still generate income.

Without a doubt, this is a very promising option to continue sharing cryptographic content with the general community.
