Buterin has stated on Twitter that crypto payments are a big boost for international payments, to charities or within countries, but that they are still undervalued compared to fiat payments.
Vitalik made these comments in a Twitter thread on Wednesday. In this thread he explained that he considers cryptocurrencies to be censorship-resistant, as well as a better alternative for conducting international business, for donations or charity and also for payments within countries themselves in many cases.

This view is based on the premise that cryptocurrencies are a better alternative for international money transfers and charitable donations because international payments with fiat currencies incur high fees and can take a long time to process, unlike crypto payments.
In fact, The adoption of cryptocurrencies in payments has grown greatly worldwide, as we can review in different reports such as the one carried out by the PYMNTS data platform on cryptocurrency payments. which showed that the surveyed companies with high annual revenues are adopting crypto payments to attract new customers or the Deloitte report that explained at the beginning of summer that most businesses were considering implementing crypto payments in their companies in the near future.

On the other hand, stable coins, a type of crypto designed to be linked to other assets (such as the US dollar), have now become a widely used means of exchange, especially in countries with emerging economies.
However, on the opposite pole we find more negative opinions about the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, as Buterin introduced in his Tweet. The most common objections relate to price volatility, ease of use and regulatory risks, as well as transaction fees or processing times in some cryptocurrencies such as Ether (ETH) or Bitcoin (BTC), which are expected to be resolved in the future with the new solutions and technologies that will be implemented in the short and medium term.
