Bitcoin has received a lot of attention on social media this year
El Chart presented by Loop shows that the number of times Bitcoin was mentioned or talked about on Twitter was highest amid the massive wave of cryptocurrency ads around the Super Bowl in February.
Also, mentions of Bitcoin increased when the Terra ecosystem debacles occurred, with the fall of the algorithmic stablecoin UST; the bankruptcy declaration of Celsius Network, a product of the same collapse of Terra; and the recent scandal involving the exchange FTX and the investment company Alameda Research, founded by Sam Bankman-Fried.
Amid the uncertainty that has been generated in the market by these events, Bitcoiners and the crypto community in general have highlighted in their social media posts that Bitcoin is freedom and the key to the economic future.
On the other hand, data from The Block Research also shows that the word Bitcoin was found 6.597 times in filings made with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) through November of this year.

Interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is increasing
Another piece of data on Bitcoin adoption that Loop revealed on its Twitter account is related to the news aggregator Reddit. According to the developer, the Reddit channel “/r/bitcoin” has welcomed one million subscribers this 2022, recording a year-on-year growth of 29%.
According to data, 4,78 million subscribers are active on this Reddit channel dedicated to reporting on news, launches, events, collaborations, activities and more related to the Bitcoin industry and community.
Loop noted that “/r/bitcoin” is currently among the top 100 channels on news aggregator Reddit by number of active subscribers.
Although Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are in the midst of a bear cycle, the attention they have received on social media and the increase in the number of subscribers in groups related to the crypto industry, highlights how these digital assets have been deepening their way into society.
