Ethereum to launch new testnet
📍Ethereum's new testnet will debut in September. Called Holesky, Ethereum's new testnet will be available starting Sept. 15, said developer Tim Beiko, who leads the network's core code development team meetings.
According to Beiko, Holesky will offer Ethereum developers an enhanced testing environment where they can deploy different contracts, protocols, and applications before launching on the mainnet, similar to other testnets such as Goerli and Sepolia. Testnets allow developers to test contracts for their new projects in order to detect bugs and glitches that could affect users.
Beiko also reported that the new testnet that Ethereum will have next month will have 1.600 million ETH, as agreed by the network developers at their last meeting. It should be noted that the ETH that Holesky will mint is only done for testing purposes, so it will have no real value on the market.
India uses blockchain in forensic medicine
📍Blockchain technology is being used in forensic medicine to prevent the risk of tampering with forensic evidence. Delhi State Forensic Science Laboratory has developed a new blockchain-based application to ensure the integrity of forensic evidence, eliminating the risk of tampering through the immutability and transparency of the blockchain.
The Reports Local media reports say the lab is using the blockchain app to record all evidence collected in investigations as well as analyses and reports carried out.
According to the lab, blockchain allows it to keep a transparent, secure, and reliable digital record that is tamper-proof of the material samples found at crime scenes. Blockchain technology also allows the lab to manage stored evidence more quickly and efficiently.
With this initiative, the Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory has become the first institution in the country, and the first of its kind, to make use of blockchain technology. The application developed by the local laboratory is currently in the testing phase.
