In Extremadura, the multinational Telefónica has opened a new Open Future call for all companies developing blockchain technology to participate in its acceleration program.
Telefónica announced its new program Open Future, which aims to support companies, organizations and projects based on blockchain in the promotion and development of technology. The call made by the largest multinational communications technology company in Spain will be open from September 15 to October 27 and will be aimed at all those companies and startups that have the potential to develop blockchain technology within the business sector.
Through Open Future, Telefónica seeks to create a favorable space in which different members of the business sector can develop and share their experiences and potential related to networking. Among the proposals received, the multinational will choose 6 startups to participate in its blockchain acceleration program, which will last 4 months and where participating companies will receive advice from specialized mentors for the creation of a business network of greater importance and recognition.
This is the fourth edition of the Open Future programme, which to date has helped to boost and accelerate more than 1700 companies and startups in the industrial sector. Since the programme began in 2014, Telefónica has also actively contributed to the rise of business networks in Spain and in 9 Latin American countries, such as Guatemala, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and Peru. The aim of Open Future is to consolidate technological projects in development based on blockchain technology.

Open Future is focused on Blockchain, Big Data, IoT and more
The Open Future program is aimed at all those companies that develop projects based on blockchain and other disruptive technologies, such as Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, innovative business and technological solutions based on points of sale (smart retail), e-health, and digital transformation in the agricultural sector (smart agro), among others.
Interested companies and businesses can register online by filling out the form available on the program's website. To participate, companies must meet a series of prerequisites, including:
- All project team members must be older.
- Work team minimum of 3 people; 2 of them must be dedicated to the process of entrepreneurship and acceleration of the project to 100%.
- The submitted project must have Legal links in Extremadura, developing its commercial activity within the Autonomous Community or having been established within the limits of the Community.
- The submitted project must overcome the design and incubation phase for at least 6 demonstrable and quantifiable months. Likewise, the project must include a Minimum Viable Product or a prototype that can begin to be developed.
- Finally, the projects presented must have a viable business plan, scaled and with the possibility of entering the market.
