The Superintendency of Banks of Panama and the Chamber of Digital Commerce and Blockchain have signed a sponsorship agreement to develop a series of activities in the next edition of the Blockchain Summit LatAm.
Panama will host the sixth edition of the international Blockchain Summit LatAm conference this year.
The event, which starts next Wednesday, July 6th, has the support of the Superintendency of Banks of Panama, which has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Chamber of Digital Commerce and Blockchain of Panama to support the event and promote technological innovation in the country.
As reported by the local newspaper Financial capital, Panama has been opening the doors to several initiatives driven by blockchain technology, such as the Food Chain project, which seeks to close the traceability gap and provide national producers with a platform where they can market their products in a transparent and direct manner.
Now, the affinity that the Superintendency of Banks, Panama's banking regulator, is showing with blockchain technology highlights the nation's interest in adopting new technologies to optimize its systems and improve its processes.
Rodrigo Icaza, CEO of the Chamber of Digital Commerce and Blockchain of Panama, said that this This is the first time that collaboration has been achieved between a Latin American banking regulator and the blockchain organization, giving rise to new opportunities for growth and development for technology in the country.
The sixth edition of Blockchain Summit LatAm will be held at the Panama Convention Center, located in Panama City.

Blockchain technology in the development of Panama
The Blockchain Summit LatAm is an international conference that brings together developers, companies, institutions, regulators, entrepreneurs and blockchain enthusiasts from Latin America and the world. This conference seeks to create a collaborative ecosystem where the brightest minds can build a new system based on trust.
The sponsorship agreement signed by the Superintendency and the Chamber of Digital Commerce will lead the Panamanian banking regulator to jointly develop and participate in conferences, talks and seminars focused on the value and business opportunities offered by blockchain.

The organizers of this important event have confirmed the attendance of several prominent figures from the crypto world, as well as several officials from the country and the region.
Jose Alejandro Rojas, Minister Counselor for the Facilitation of Private and Foreign Investment of Panama; Janice Becerra, advisor to the senior office of the National Authority for Government Innovation of Panama and partner of the firm Panama Legal Group; Aldo Rios, strategy and transformation consultant for the Superintendency of Banks of Panama; and Luis Cedeno, head of Internet commerce at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Panama, will participate in the Blockchain Summit LatAm Panama 2022.
The deputy of the National Assembly of Panama, Gabriel silva, the main promoter of the crypto bill being developed in the country, will also be present during the blockchain event.
From Latin America, the senator from the state of Nuevo León in Mexico Indira Kempis y Monica Thaher, director of international technological and economic affairs at the Secretariat of Trade and Investment of El Salvador, will be among the other prominent crypto-friendly politicians in the region who will attend the Blockchain Summit LatAm.
Samson Mow, CEO of Jan3 and Lorraine Ortiz, CEO of Bitcoin Embassy Bar, will also be exhibitors at the Blockchain Summit LatAm Panama 2022.
Blockchain innovation talks and more
During the event, various current and interesting topics in the crypto industry will be discussed.
According to the agenda posted on the Blockchain Summit LatAm website, the first day of the conference will be dedicated to everything related to Panama's financial and regulatory system, including FATF standards for the industry.
The second day will be dedicated to the value and growth opportunities of blockchain, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, as well as the evolution of the crypto ecosystem in Panama and Latin America and the role that crypto-friendly countries will play in the expansion of crypto assets.
The role of new technologies in the future development of society will also be discussed.
The Blockchain Summit LatAm Panama 2022 will also feature spaces dedicated to the development of the decentralized finance ecosystem, NFTs, and Web 3.
