MicroStrategy's Bitcoin purchases continue

📍‌Business intelligence firm MicroStrategy has invested another $6 million to acquire more Bitcoin. The invested amount has given MicroStrategy another 301 BTC to add to its corporate balance sheet, where it holds a total of 130.000 BTC. The value of the bitcoins held by MicroStrategy amounts to $2.458 billion at the time of writing. 

On his Twitter account, Michael Saylor, the company's CEO, reported that the new bitcoins were purchased at an average value of $19.851 per BTC. At the time of writing this article, the price of Bitcoin is around $18.914 per unit. 

Arbitrum NFT collections arrive on Opensea this Wednesday

📍‌NFT marketplace Opensea will integrate support for Arbitrum One NFT collections. Collections such as Smolverse, GMX Blueberries, and Diamond Pepes, powered by the Arbitrum One layer-two network, will be available on Opensea, currently the largest NFT marketplace in the crypto industry, starting this Wednesday, September 21. 

The developers of Opensea, which already supports NFT collections from blockchains such as Solana and Polygon Network, reported that the integration of the sidechain that implements optimistic rollups technology represents another step towards building an interoperable future focused on Web3.

Andreessen Horowitz leads $51 million round of Sardine

📍‌Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is interested in a Web3 startup focused on fraud security. Sardine is a startup focused on fighting fraud that has raised $51 million in a Series B funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). 

Alex Immerman, a partner at a16z Growth Fund, said Sardine has seen exponential growth and that a16z's investment in the new company will accelerate the development of new products.

Nasdaq wants to capitalize on the cryptocurrency market

📍‌The stock exchange, the second largest in the United States, wants to offer cryptocurrency custody services to institutional investors. In a statement, Nasdaq revealed its plans to launch Nasdaq Digital Assets, its new digital assets division that is awaiting approval from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) to begin providing its services.

Through this split, the exchange plans to become a cryptocurrency custodian and meet the growing demand for digital assets among institutional investors. 

Hong Kong to test digital currency, China to extend e-CNY pilot to Guangdong

📍‌Hong Kong's e-HKD will begin its pilot test in the fourth quarter, while China's e-CNY will be rolled out to the populous province of Guangdong. Hong Kong’s administrative region is finalizing details to launch its own CBDC digital currency. Howard Lee, deputy chief executive of Hong Kong’s de facto central bank, has said that the e-HKD will be a retail digital currency that will be used to transfer money and pay for purchases, among other use cases. 

Meanwhile, China's central bank, the PboC, announced that it will extend pilot tests with the digital yuan to four regions in Guangdong province to increase the number of users and merchants who make use of its digital currency and strengthen its expansion. 

According to the bank, the number of transactions carried out using e-CNY is growing considerably, making it an important infrastructure for the digital age. Both news were reported on Tuesday by local newspaper South China Morning Post.
