Google wants to catalyze the adoption of Web3 worldwide

Speaking to Blockworks, James Tromans, Google Cloud's global head of Web3, said the company is working to accelerate Web3 adoption among its global customers.

Google is one of the Web2 companies that is adapting the fastest to the blockchain industry and Web3, known as the next generation of the web. In recent months, the company has entered into several strategic alliances with companies and projects in the crypto industry, with which it seeks to support the growth of this emerging sector and offer projects a managed and scalable infrastructure that allows them to build new solutions without having to worry about speed, performance and security.

Related to this, Tromans, who serves as Google Cloud's global director for Web3, said Blockworks said the Internet giant is working with companies across a range of industries, including financial services and gaming, to integrate Web3 into their operations.

According to Tromans, Google is in a strategic position to turn its customers into major players in the Web3 ecosystem. The Google executive pointed out that this has become a central part of the Internet company's business mission.

Driving entry into the Web3 ecosystem

Google is taking a rather friendly stance towards the crypto industry, focusing primarily on blockchain technology, decentralized finance (DeFi) and Web3, in addition to other disruptive innovations such as Artificial Intelligence

In April of this year, Google added Web3 to its Google Cloud startup program, with the aim of giving this program a new focus to offer nascent companies and projects in the crypto industry the opportunity to focus on innovation. This will allow them to create new decentralized applications, Web3 tools, services and more that offer specific solutions to real problems, challenges and needs.

Tromans noted that Google is working with several of its customers from Google Cloud to help them optimize their operations, unlock alternative business models and create new revenue streams from Web3 technologies.

In recent months, the internet giant has also secured several strategic partnerships with innovative projects such as Voltage, Solana, PancakeSwap, and Polygon Network. The company also offers node hosting services with support for the most important blockchains in the industry, such as Ethereum, and has eased several of the restrictions it maintained for blockchain-based applications, restructuring and adapting its service policies for tokenized assets, NFTs and Web3 games.
