Brands prepare to join the Metaverse
📍The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has received more than 3.300 trademark applications for the Metaverse. On his Twitter account, trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis reported that this year, the USPTO has received a large number of trademark applications for the creation of products, goods and services in the virtual world.
From January to June of this year, trademark applications totaled 3.350, with March being the month in which brands submitted the most applications to the USPTO, Kondoudis said.
American fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger has been one of the latest to submit a trademark application to the USPTO, in order to use its brand in the Metaverse.
In the submitted application, Tommy Hilfiger indicates that it will use its brand to create virtual garments for avatars, such as clothing, footwear and other items. In addition, the fashion brand has plans to launch a virtual store and marketplace and to encourage the creation of new communities based on NFTs.
Tommy Hilfiger was one of the brands that was present at the Metaverse Fashion Week held in Decentraland in March of this year.

📍DeFi protocol Yan Finance managed to stop an attack that put $1,4 million of its community treasury at risk. Yan Finance Developers reported on Twitter that their DAO was the target of a governance attack that aimed to drain $1,4 million from its community treasury.
However, even though they noticed the attack two days after the attacker submitted a governance proposal that included a malicious contract to extract the funds, the developers were able to notice the attack and stop it in time.
