A Bitcoin whale wakes up after 8 years
📍Bitcoin price has hit a new all-time high (ATH), encouraging whales to move their holdings. After 8 years of inactivity, a Bitcoin whale has awakened, moving 2.352 BTC that had remained dormant since 2015.
The transactions, which were detected by the btcparser platform, show that the owner of these bitcoins made transactions from 80 wallets of the cryptocurrency.
With Bitcoin hitting a new ATH last week, several long-term BTC holders have decided to move their holdings, making significant transactions after remaining dormant for several years. Before this 2015 whale, another one that has held bitcoins since 2010 woke up, moving more than 3.000 BTC that had been dormant for 14 years.
Litecoin announces a new update
📍Litecoin Core is preparing for a new protocol upgrade. The cryptocurrency developers announced that a new update will soon be implemented in Litecoin Core, with which they will introduce the PSBT Bitcoin portability standard, which simplifies the use of hardware wallets.
PSBT, or Partially Signed Bitcoin Transaction, is a standard that improves the portability of unsigned transactions, making signing and verifying them simpler for the parties involved. According to Litecoin developers, this standard has been adapted to fit MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB) transactions, which were activated on the blockchain network in 2022.
Litecoin, focused on global payments, is one of the most used cryptocurrencies in the crypto ecosystem today. According to its creators, so far this year, the network has processed more than 25 and has registered around 21,5 million ordinals on its blockchain. On the other hand, the network's hash power has seen significant growth this 2024, surpassing the 1,2 PetaHash per second (PH/s).
Cardano partners with Dubai Police
📍The Cardano Foundation has entered into a strategic partnership, focused on fighting crime, with the Dubai Police. Dubai Police will reportedly use Cardano technology to securely share data and information from its criminal investigations with other agencies.
Cardano community member Chris O. emphasized that using the Cardano network to keep police investigations secure and confidential is an “ideal use case” for Cardano, which is gaining increasing importance globally. “Ensuring that data can be shared and managed securely on a decentralized network is increasingly relevant in sectors ranging from energy and defense to IoT,” he highlighted, emphasizing that data and information uploaded to the ADA blockchain will remain secure and tamper-proof, while being accessible to interested parties.
China collects all cryptocurrency-related cases in a public database
📍Cryptocurrencies have been included in the People's Court's database of cases. In an article published by Colin Wu, the cryptocurrency blogger reported that the People's Court of China has created a publicly available case database listing all legal cases related to cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
Of the 3.711 cases included in this database, Wu reported that at least some 35 are related to cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and NFT tokens.
X boasts new paid licenses
📍Elon Musk said in an interview with CNBC that the paid licenses for his X platform in New York and California are getting closer. According to his statements, X could receive new licenses as a money transmitter from the states of New York and California, which would bring the social platform closer to its plans to establish itself as an “app for everything,” in which its users can access payment services to send and receive money within the platform.
Musk, known to be a fan of Dogecoin, assured that regulatory licenses from these two states are just a few months away.
Just like reported this means, money transmitter licenses or Money Transmitter License, may authorize the social media platform to offer cryptocurrency services to its users in some US states, such as Rhode Island.
